Hiking Muskegon State Park with Salewa

Hiking Muskegon State Park with Salewa

Spring is here and us Michiganders can’t wait until our mitten state is in full bloom! What better way to celebrate spring being sprung than going for a hometown hike! We grabbed our Salewa hiking footwear and headed to Muskegon State Park to ring in the new season!

Muskegon State Park

Established in 1923, Muskegon State Park has been an incredible local outlet for outdoor adventure for almost 100 years. Located west of North Muskegon, it sits on the shore of Lake Michigan and offers miles of trails over forested dunes and lakeshore. The park also has rustic and modern camping, picnic areas, fishing, a boat launch, swimming, and even a replica of a historic military blockhouse overlooking the lake.

Salewa Footwear

Nestled in the Dolomites, a mountain range in Northeastern Italy, sits the mountain climbing equipment, footwear, and apparel company, Salewa. Their headquarters is a 50 meters high complex that resembles the rocky terrain that surrounds it. Dedicated to providing a healthy work and life environment, the Italian company has offices and warehouses at their HQ as well as a kindergarten for employee’s children, a cafeteria that sources fresh local food, and a garden that employs refugees from all over the world to grow organic produce, learn German and English, and build meaningful relationships within the community. Salewa started production with mountain climbing gear in 1935 and grew its production over the years to include footwear and apparel. Introduced to the US in 2014, Salewa now is present in over 30 countries and is a leading mountaineering brand. They offer a variety of footwear styles for all your outdoor adventures!

Wildfire Collection

The Wildfire collection includes the classic low top Wildfire, Wildfire Edge, and Mid Wildfire Edge. The Wildfire is a technical shoe that provides ultimate traction control and grip through their POMOCA Speed Mtn Sole, comfort through their cushioning and moisture wicking Ortholite insole, and a breathable mesh lining for warmer conditions. The Wildfire Edge is a more aggressive take on the classic Wildfire, featuring an edging plate under the toes for increased directional stiffness, Multi Fit Footbed Plus (MFF+) that uses interchangeable layers to adapt to the shape of your foot, and simple to use climbing lacing that easily loosens or tightens to accommodate your climb or hike. The Wildfire Edge is available as a low top or a mid that offers a stretch gaiter to keep out snow, scree, and trail debris. Each Wildfire style also has a Gore-Tex waterproof option to keep out precipitation and groundwater while still providing breathability.

The Mountain Trainer

The Mountain Trainer is a lightweight, mid-height, alpine trekking boot. It is designed to provide comfort, flexibility, and durability for ascents and descents during alpine treks. It features a vibram sole, Gore-Tex waterproofing, leather suede exterior, the Ortholite insole, climbing lacing, a flex collar at the ankle for added flexibility, and Salewa’s 3F system for flexibility, support, and blister free fit. The Mountain Trainer is also available in a lite version for technical hikes that offers the POMOCA Outsole and S Path tread for great traction even on rock, and suede inserts for stability. Specifically designed for women, the Alpenrose 2 Mid GTX is another great trekking shoe option for hiking and fast-paced mountain activities. It is lightweight, has a mesh fabric exterior, Gore-Tex, the POMOCA S- Path Outsole, Ortholite insole, and Salewa 3F system.

The Dropline

The Dropline is a low top, speed hiking shoe that is lightweight with progressive shock absorption technology. It features POMOCA S Path outsole, Ortholite insole, air mesh exterior, EVA midsole for lightweight cushioning and minimal impact force on joints and muscles, an anti-rock heel cup, and Salewa’s 3F system. The Dropline is also available with Gore-Tex waterproofing. Along with this speed hiker, the Ultra Train is another great option for trail running. Very similar to the Dropline, the Ultra Train has an air mesh exterior, POMOCA S Path outsole, anti-rock heel cup, Ortholite insole, and 3F system. It also has motion guidance through the mesh exterior and TPU film that provides superior flex performance, abrasion resistance, and strength against wear and tear.
